Do you often find yourself feeling overwhelmed and unable to complete your goals? You are not alone! Becoming boggled down with a million things to do is a common issue that affects millions of people around the world. However, there is hope!

With the help of coaching and holistic practices, you can learn how to prioritize, find a system for work-life balance, cut down on distractions, and achieve your dreams.

In this article, we will explore the power of holistic coaching and how it can help you overcome unproductive habits. We will also provide tips and resources to help you get started on your journey towards personal growth.

The Power and Benefits of Holistic Coaching

Holistic coaching can be a powerful tool for healing and personal growth with it’s numerous amounts of benefits. Practices in holistic coaching have been used for centuries to promote physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

One of the great things about holistic practices is that they are accessible to everyone, regardless of age, fitness level, or background. They can be done at home or in a group setting and require little to no equipment

Some of the benefits of holistic coaching include:

  • Increased self-reflection skills so you can utilize your strengths and fine-tune your weaknesses.
  • Clarity in lifelong goals. You will gain a greater sense of purpose and direction. This also leads to more abundance.
  • Another benefit that comes with holistic life coaching is improved concentration. After you gain clarity and purpose, you will be able to focus on the things that matter to you the most.
  • With better concentration, you get better organization skills.
  • Reduced stress is also another benefit. You will be given the tools and the resources to handle challenges and to become more resilient.

The Difference Between Holistic and Traditional Coaching

Unlike traditional coaching, which often focuses solely on addressing specific problems within specific areas (career skills, time-management skills, etc.), holistic coaching aims to help clients achieve a deeper understanding of themselves and their lives through a broader perspective that includes physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual dimensions.

With holistic coaching, clients get a more integrative approach that considers the interconnectedness of various areas in their life.

Holistic coaching often takes a future, longer-term view, aiming for sustainable changes in a person’s overall well-being that may extend over a more extended period while traditional coaching is often set with a certain project in mind within a specific time frame.

How is it different from counseling?

1. Holistic coaches may have training in coaching methodologies, and their credentials may vary, however, holistic counselors typically hold professional degrees and licenses in counseling or psychology.

Counselors often have extensive training in therapeutic techniques and are regulated by licensing boards in their respective jurisdictions. This means that counselors MUST abide by the ethical guidelines of their profession. Coaches do not have to abide by any standards by any means since it is not regulated.

ALWAYS check the professional history of a coach before you hire one.

Failure to do so may heighten the risk of adverse outcomes if you encounter a coach who does more harm than good due to their lack of experience in helping people who are facing difficulties.

2. The primary focus of holistic coaching is often future personal growth.

Coaching involves only planning and getting ready for future endeavors. On the other hand, holistic counseling considers both future endeavors and past events/traumas that may affect one from competing their future endeavors. Overall, counseling involves mental and emotional healing and stability from past traumas to prepare for future goals.

Coaches are not qualified to go over past traumas that bring up and could subside symptomatic behaviors. That is the work of a counselor or therapist.

3. Holisitic coaching involves practices to help clients gain clarity, set goals, and develop action plans while holistic counseling uses therapeutic approaches and evidence-based interventions rooted in psychology and counseling.

Counseling may involve techniques like cognitive-behavioral (CBT), dialectical behavioral (DBT), family systems, humanistic, narrative, psychoanalysis, and other scientific-based methods therapies to address mental and emotional challenges.

Coaches on the other hand often use positive psychology. Any other method would require extensive training. Again, I would recommend checking the credentials and training certificates if possible.

All in all, while both holistic coaching and holistic counseling take a comprehensive approach to well-being, they differ in their primary focus, methods, and goals.
